SNOW AND SOIL STABILIZATION KITS
ICAB kits have been originally designed and tested as snow supporting structures. Each ICAB unit consists of a central steel pipe connected to the anchor point on one end, and to a rectangle cross-shaped frame, made by steel beams, on the other end: a facing steel mesh or a steel wire rope net is fixed to the four corners of the cross.
ICAB kits are verified against ground load/pressure as well, thus are suitable for use in the following cases:
-
- Containment of soil static load on shallow-landslide prone areas
- Slopes’ stabilization
- Flood protection works and river banks erosion control and stabilization
- Slope cutting, earthworks and retaining walls, close to roads and railways or other infrastructures.
ICAB structures are lightweight, easy to be assembled and quick to be placed (connection to a single anchor point): these are the reasons for using ICAB kits for land protection works in emergency situations and/or in places hard to be reached.
Lightweight and easy-to-install ICAB unit kits, can quickly be assembled in their final set-up in easy-access places, and then can be conveniently -with the use of helicopter if necessary- moved to the proper location for the permanent installation.
Foundation of each kit is made of a single anchor: usually the unit is secured to a double spiral rope anchor.
ICAB kits and anchors can be supplied with different arrangements, with different sizes and performances, and are designed according to Italian Structural Standards (Ministerial Decree 17/01/2018) and, for the use as snow nets, the design is in agreement with the technical guideline “Defense structures in avalanche starting zones” edited by Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN) and WSL Swiss Federal Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research (SLF).
